How to Build a Backyard Kid’s Playhouse

One of the things that almost every child wants to play with when growing up is there very own backyard playhouse. As parents, we want very much to give them one. But the pre-made playhouses you can buy can be really expensive. Even the ones from Walmart, Sams Club, or Costco. The best news is that you can easily learn how to build your own playhouse. Even if your DIY skills are not that great. Building one yourself really isn’t that difficult. Check out these next steps on how to build a playhouse.

Building a playhouse for your child not only will save you a lot of money, but it is also a great way to bring the family together and work on it together as a team. Your child will even be proud of his playhouse built with his very own hands.

For starters, you have two ways to go about this. The first option is for anyone who has absolutely no DIY building experience at all. In that case, you should find someone who is good at building things themselves to help you. It can be a friend or family member, or it could be a professional carpenter who knows what to do.

The other option is to just build the playhouse yourself. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys working with their hands on the weekend and has even the slightest skills with DIY construction. It really isn’t that hard to do.

Once you know which way you are going to go about this, the next step is to obtain a set of woodworking playhouse plan. Make sure you get a great set of high quality, premium plans that offer:

(1) A complete list of materials and tools you will need

(2) Very detailed, step by step instructions that are easy to read

(3) Easy to read illustrations and diagrams to follow. The best ones reference back to the instructions.

If you need a suggestion on where to find a great set of playhouse plans, a friend of mine just used a great set of Cradle Plans to build a baby cradle from a huge library of premium plans. I suggest you check the same library he did for a nice set of backyard playhouse plans.

I also suggest that you get your child’s involvement and suggestions for what they would like in the design on the playhouse. It will be much more fun and they will enjoy learning something new.

Most importantly, make sure you take into consideration the size of your backyard before selecting which playhouse plan will work the best.

Next, always buy all the materials for your playhouse project before starting. It will be much easier and much less frustrating to have all the materials in front of you.

Finally, just follow the woodworking plans you selected to build the playhouse. If they are the plans that I suggested, they will surely take you by the hand, step by step. And you will end up with a beautiful and fun backyard playhouse your child will surely enjoy.
